The culture and traditions of territories of Golfo di Castellammare (Castellammare Gulf) find their perfect synthesis in the  Contradanza dance.

 

The “GAL InContraDanza” is a large celebration, held in several places and in several dates, from February to June 2015, which goes back over history, culture, traditions, people and folklore of the seven Municipalities of the LAG (Local Action Group) Golfo di Castellammare and whose common topic is the Sicilian contradanza, a traditional dance.

 

The “GAL InContraDanza” is identified by a programme schedule rich in musical events, contradanza shows, urban trekking in old town centres,  parades of Sicilian carts, opera dei pupi (opera of the puppets) and typical product tasting. It will stop off in each of the seven municipalities members of the LAG Golfo di Castellammare during local celebrations and public perfomances.

 

The Carnival in Cinisi, accompanied by the music by Ambrogio Sparagna and his folk music Orchestra, starts celebrations, which continues in Borgetto during the Mense di San Giuseppe (Saint Joseph’s tables) and in Partinico with the feast of the Madonna del Ponte (the Virgin of the Bridge) and the music of Peter Bernstein Quartet. At a later stage, the itinerant event stops off in Terrasini on the occasion of the Festa

Di li Schietti (the Bachelors’ Festival) and in Balestrate with “Sapori di Siccia..ra” (Tastes of Siccia..ra, the ancient name of the town), the town festival of the cuttlefish; the event closes in Alcamo, during a Blues performance with the participation of the American band “The Original Blues Brothers Band”, and  in Trappeto in the day of celebration for the municipal independence anniversary.
